Capital One Spark Miles for Business Credit Card Review

Capital One Spark MilesThe Capital One Spark Miles for Business Credit Card is an extremely useful card for very flexible travel.

These miles are fixed in value at 1 cent per point, but you do get a large amount of flexibility when using them and don’t ever have to worry about “blackout dates.”

“Early Spending Bonus” Information: Earn 50,000 miles when you spend $4,500 in the first 3 months. No annual fee in the first year, then $95 after that.

Additional Noteworthy Benefits and Review:

You earn 2 Spark miles for every purchase made and the miles never expire as long as your card account is active; there are also no foreign transaction fees when using this card internationally.

The 50,000 baseline bonus miles plus the 90,000 miles you earn for the $4,500 in spending (2x) = 59,000 miles worth $590 of statement credits when redeeming miles to offset a “travel” expense.

It is incredibly easy to use these miles! Just simply use this card to pay for your travel expense. Nobody knows or cares you have “miles.” You then log into your Capital One online account, go to the rewards section and you’ll see the travel expense listed as available to redeem your miles for full value. You even have up to 90 days after the fact to earn more miles and then retroactively redeem them!

What this 90 day period also means is that your travel expense can be part of your original minimum spending requirement, which is a HUGE benefit. This enables you to open this card right before you need to pay for your travel expense, which is very unusual in the world of travel rewards miles.

From the Spark FAQ:

“What types of travel purchases are eligible  for redemption for Previous Travel?

Purchases made from airlines, hotels, rail lines, car rental agencies, limousine services, bus lines, cruise lines, taxi cabs, travel agents and time shares are generally considered to be travel purchases and availability for redemption is based on the merchant category code assigned to them by the merchant. Capital One is not responsible for how merchants assign these codes.”

As you can see, there is a huge list of what is considered “travel,” so you’ll find it quite easy to use these miles.
