Note:The Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express has long been one of our top recommended rewards cards as not only could you use Starpoints at over 1,200 Starwood brand hotels (Westin, W, Sheraton, Aloft, Four Points, St. Regis, among others), but these points also transfer to numerous airline partners to add an amazing amount of flexibility to these hotel points.
However, right now a lot is in flux with this program since the merger with Marriott. We are not currently recommending the card, and will be updating our recommendations in coming weeks as we learn more about the programs and card offerings. Stay tuned.

Additional Noteworthy Benefits and Review:
There are no foreign transaction fees when using the Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express and you earn “Enjoy complimentary, unlimited Boingo Wi-Fi on up to four devices at more than 1,000,000 Boingo hotspots worldwide.” You also earn credit towards Starwood elite status each year (5 nights and 2 stays towards the requirements) and you get free in-room internet at participating locations.
We love Starpoints. Simple as that. We spend these nearly as fast as we earn them, because they are so valuable and versatile. Though the offer on this card doesn’t look enormous compared with some 50,000 offers you see, these points go a LONG way because the redemptions are so reasonable (2,000 points per night for a Category 1 weekend night for instance).
We used them for a free vacation at the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin hotels, which though right on site at Disney and normally considered “Disney hotels,” are actually Starwood hotels where you can use Starpoints!
Starwood gives you the “5th night free” on all award redemptions of Category 3 and above and they also have a great offering called “Nights and Flights” which add even more value to your point redemptions.
We highly recommend you review the redemption options at Starwood’s site.
Transfer Starpoints to Airlines: Not only can you transfer Starpoints to airline miles, but for every 20,000 Starpoints you transfer, you earn an additional 5,000 free miles (20,000 Starpoints = 25,000 miles for all 1:1 partners)
